Hey all, So, I’m currently wanting to give users a “sharing” link, so they can drive their own traffic to their user profile. Similar to how you can do it on FB by making an @page name, which allows them to create a very simple and concise link to share with others. This is the way I’m attempting to do it: [sample2] This is the result I’m getting in the URL: [sample1] In the above image, the user name is “hamper”. I want the url to be “.com/user_profile/hamper” minus everything after the username. Is there a way to achieve this?

I remember trying to achieve this with my app a few months back and unfortunately I found no solution. However I did find a work around, which may not be as sleek but it still achieves the same result: Get your app to find a user from a data key. Set up a workflow to trigger when the page is loaded that will set the pages ‘User’ to the data key. To do this choose ‘Get data from URL’ then set the key to ‘User’ or ‘Profile’. The URL will then be “.com/user_profile?user=hamper” I hope this made sense. It was kind of complicated to explain.

@romanmg Thanks for responding. You had me all the way up until "Then everything within would just be “Parent groups [field]” “Get data from page URL” has 2 types available - parameter and path. Choose Path." Simply because my user_profile page has TONS and TONS of functionality and I don’t think this is a practical approach for me. When I tried it caused me a lot of issues, especially when implementing “Parent groups”…

Thanks for the response. I appreciate the help. I need it to be simplified to “user_profile/username”

This (profile pages with username URLs) is discussed as nauseum here in the forums. Here are several threads that may be helpful. First, here’s an excruciatingly detailed description of how to do this, what you can do, and what you can’t do: [image] Showing IP Address for individual User Pages App Organization OK, so here’s a way. Here’s a page where I extract the user’s name from the URL and then search for them: [image] A couple things to note: You can’t just have myapp.com/FirstnameLastname But you can have 应用宝官网-全网最新最热手机应用游戏下载 (Aside: you can’t have 应用宝官网-全网最新最热手机应用游戏下载 as that seems to be a reserved word and Bubble gives a funny error message when you try to create a page with that name.) For the technique I’m about to describe to work, the User First Name and User Last Name fields MUST star… More recently, @marcuslate asked about this and got all the same info, some presented on a different way: Super Clean URLs @marc2 also asked about this recently, he got a lot of the same feedback, though this thread also touches on applications of the Browser plugin: [image] Easiest way to create a page/URL from Inputs value? Need help Hey, I have an Input and Button than when pressed creates an entry in a field called ‘Team Name’ in the DB. (That part is all good) I would then like to create a URL specific to them, ie; acme.com/team/team-name How would I do this. Parameters? Have tried a few different ways but no success frowning Also the user would not be logging in or anything like that, so how would I sent the correct data to the page without them actually been logged in? Many thanks

@keith o_0 why is this so hard? This is my failed attempt at following your directions: [image1] Step 1 [image2] Step 2 – I used the recommended ([A-Z][a-z])(?=[A-Z]) [image3] Step 3 [image4] And it doesn’t work, so I’ve done something wrong I only need the ability to extract the username. I don’t care about first and last name, like in your example. So lets say for example that the user name is Anthony Bigums. I’d be fine with a URL being “.com/user_profile/Anthony-Bigums”

@keith I feel like I’m close, but it still isn’t working: [I] [i2]

hours into trouble shooting this :persevere: Step 1: thisPath is reading the URL Step 2: username is using a Regex code to extract the username from the URL Step 3: is taking the extracted username and matching it to the username? My confusion is, how is this being applied to the structure of the URL? I don’t understand…

Isn’t there just an easy way to remove Unique Id from the URL or something? This just isn’t working, no matter what I try…

As Keith says, it is entirely possible, and there are lots of threads. Here is it working … https://teamytime.com/team/Costa “Costa” is something the user has set up. And what I do is exactly what you are trying to do, I read in the path (which is “Costa”), then look up that on the relevant table. [image] The issue you are facing is that you now have two ways of referring to user. In the manual path and in the built-in page thing. If you want to go with the manual method (which gives you the cleanest URL) then ditch the content-type on the page. That way you won’t get all the rest of the URL and need a Regex. Trying to get the various bits of the URL is likely to be more trouble that it is worth as any Regex is going to be returning the parts of the URL in Regex “groups” - which Bubble doesn’t handle well. So simple answer, remove the User as page thing, and use a State based on the Path.
