Anybody willing to help me with DM feature for Slack Clone?

Would anybody be willing to help me with a DM feature for the Slack Clone I just built? I have the Channels part finished, but for some reason the Private Messaging doesn’t make sense to me.

Is it too small a “project” to ask someone to build for me? Should i just keep plugging away at it? The DM will go right here:
