Autobind on dropdown in an RG

If I have a dropdown in an RG that provides the current selection from the dropdown menu. How do I set it up so that when the user wants to update the selection it then updates the DS. Being in a RG means I cant just link directly to it. I had hoped to use an autobind setup but that doesnt work either (why there is an option for it when it doesnt work makes no sense). Am I left with having to use an RG extractor so that when the dropdown changes it autoupdates via workflow? Or will that not work either?

Just to clarify, you want to update a current cell’s thing’s value using autobind, right? If yes, then you can use autobind. You just have to reference the dropdown to the current cell’s value and recheck privacy rules if you enabled autobind for that data type.

Privacy rules should be fine its set up that everything goes, which I have done in other areas. Privacy doesnt matter in this instance.

I think this should be “current/parent cell” BHIType ingredient type or whatever the field name is in the datatype u’re auto-binding
