Black Friday? Does everyone have one?

Out of curiosity. Do most countries have some sort of Black Friday? When is it for your country?

So in the United States there is a day called Black Friday after Thanksgiving that used to be the biggest sale of the year. They have extended it each year and now it’s basically the whole month and really not that great of a sale anymore. In the US, it’s always the day after Thanksgiving. It’s when the companies get out of the ‘red’, or negative in the books, and finally get into the ‘black’ where they are making a profit.

So I’m curious about other cultures, do you have something like that? What day is it? Let me know. Thanks.

  • 3.3 sales
  • 4.4. sales
  • 5.5 sales
  • 6.6 sales
  • 7.7 sales
  • 8.8 sales
  • 9.9 sales
  • 10.10 sales
  • 11.11 sales
  • 12.12 sales

So what day is your ‘Black Friday’ then? Same in the US. Just an excuse to have a big hype and sell more.

It’s actually a whole season. It’s still going on for some businesses.

Though the price drops aren’t as massive as it can get in the US. It’s just another sale wrapped in a recognisable brand.

Interesting. The US has Black Friday and Cyber Monday. But now it’s basically two months of sales.

@J805 In Bali (Indonesia), traditionally do not have Black Friday, but in recent years many stores and online platforms have adopted the Western Black Friday concept.
It’s not a cultural event—just retailers joining global sales.

Most big discounts happen on 11.11 (Singles’ Day) and 12.12 because of Asian e-commerce trends (Shopee, Tokopedia), which are actually bigger than Black Friday here.
