Is this a bug or has it always been a missing but crucial feature for the search box to have an ability to perform an advanced filter on the list of things to be searched?
Search box was always limited in functionality. Plus advanced search was always via the :filtered operator.
Yes, but the searchbox doesn’t allow for a filtered operator, so I was thinking perhaps the constraints on searchbox would have the advanced filter there. Thank you for confirming the missing functionality.

I believe there should also be an advanced search function within search for, instead of using filtered and doing the filtering on the client side. Perhaps this is not possible due to some internal issue within Bubble itself.
The only way you could use advanced there, perhaps, would be to place a repeater group outside with advanced and use it there in the search box data source.
