Calendar time not accurate

In my app I am using the date picker element. I set data to ‘calendar a’s current day’. And when the user clicks a day on the calendar it displays that day as mm/dd/yyyy. No time. When i set the time picker to date and time, I get the selected day as before but I get 12:00am for a time. Does anyone know how to extract the time when the day event is created? Thanks.
