Can you crop an image into various shapes across my site?

Hello! I just started building my app and I’m excited. I have a concept and it requires a lot of custom images in order to work. I was going to upload a million versions of the same images for each use case, but it occurred to me that maybe all I need to do is upload 1 version of the image and just crop it as needed. Is this possible?

For example, say I want it to be a star on one page and a heart on another. I can’t just have a border overlaid on the top because the star is going to be next to other stars and the heart will be next to other hearts. Can I specify the shape and have it clip to that shape?

Any help is appreciated!
