Change ionic range with CSS?

I am trying to make the knob smaller on the ionic range and what I have seems correct but it’s not working. I have the CSS plugin and on Load I add the following CSS:

#range .ionic-range{knob-size:5px;}

There was another thread about changing the ionic toggle and I tried to follow the same method but have not been able to get it to work. What do I need to change?
