Collapse margins referencing PAGE WIDTH instead of container width?

Is there any way we could reference page width instead of container width to collapse margins?

Reason why this is annoying is when you have a side menu hidden/collapse when page width is < than 768 (for mobile view) and the container expands in width

How about putting the container in a bigger and invisible group the will collapse and controlling the inner container with max width?
