Custom Plugin - What is the Service URL?

When creating a custom plugin, one of the items in the General tab is Service URL. Can anyone tell me what it’s for? The documentation about the General tab is all of three lines long, so RTFM’ing is not helpful in this case.

From my understanding this field is meant to paste the URL of the forum post u made about your plugin. This post will act as a kind of ‘service page’ where users could report bugs or problems they were facing with your plugin.

Exactly right

You could always create a forum thread related to your upcoming plugin and use it as the service link.
