Display grouped items in a RG, or only show one item

I’m trying to display items grouped by the same value in a repeating group.

Data type “Buckets of paint”
Field “Colours”
Field entries “red”, “red”, “blue”, “green”

I want the repeating group to display “red”, “blue”, “green”. Grouping “red” together or ignore all but one entry of “red”.

I feel like I’m missing something dead obvious, but I just can’t figure it out.

Have you tried setting the RG data source to Search for Buckets of paint:unique items?

Ah yes! I first tried that but no matter how I structured it I couldn’t get it to work, and there’s not a lot of information about it in the docs.

But you made me go back and try harder. It does work if I use text as type of content, instead of a data type. That in turn broke a couple of workflows down the line, since I needed info from a data type, rather than just a list of texts. But with a bit of restructuring of the workflows, bada bing bada boom! we’re in business. Thanks.
