Email validator time out

Get a time out from Apple and Hotmail but not from GMail.

“Timed out waiting for server response to HELO mx4.mail.icloud.com”

Are the HELO-servers not to be trusted to operate?

I tried http://email-checker.net and both .icloud.com and hotmail.com emails work.
