Please see the attached image. I have a post for which I create a URL using a slug. Now the user can either upload his photo in the post image box or he can give a URL in the Post text box. Using the Link Preview plugin, I am able to generate a preview image in the Post Image box in case the user has entered a URL in the multiline Post text box.
If the user has written some text and added his own image, sharing on social media is easy by creating the URL and using the parameters (see image) description and image for SEO. However, if the post has a URL of some external website, then when the post is shared on say FB, it is not the image of the website the URL refers to, but the host (meaning my website) website’s image and title and description that get shared. This obviously will happen because there is no feature to conditionally change the page’s description and image if the text contains a URL (tracked by the Link Preview plugin). In a nutshell, one should be able to conditionally change the SEO parameters for a page.
