Floating sidebar tabs spacing issue

Hi all,

Recently discovered bubble and really excited to be able to test an idea I have without learning to code.

So far i’ve created a basic structure, relying quite heavily on Canvas templates for pages.

I’ve used one of their dashboard templates as it fits my needs well, however I’m having some trouble with the formatting / spacing on the menu items.

I believe this formatting is being caused by some form of conditional logic from the template I used, as these sections expanded with sub-categories originally (which I later removed).

I’d appreciate being pointed in the right direction of where to look to correct this margin / spacing issue. I suspect it’s in the styling section my investigations have so far been unsuccessful.

Thanks

By formatting I think you mean that scrolling bar.

By removing the sub categories it is likely that the height of the fg was cut short. Make sure the fg has the exact same height of the page and that the setting is to float relative to “both”. This should bring its functionality back to reflect the only visible elements that you want shown and eliminate the need for Bubble to activate the scroll bar automatically.

Hi there Cmarchan,

Thanks for your response!

For further information, I believe the scroll is being triggered by items being spaced beyond the page boundaries by the element margins;

It was the unnecessary spacing I was looking to resolve, however your insights will likely prove helpful once I have solved this mystery!

If by spacing you mean vertical space between notifications and reports (as an example) … then identify the group right under the parent group of the group that houses the “reports” text element and set it to collapse when hidden.

Yes indeed, that’s what I was looking to remove.

Upon further investigation it seems there were some hidding sub-tabs beneath the main tabs that were causing the issue.

Thanks for your help :grinning:
