With this plugin, you can Improve your image understanding by extracting text within a JPEG, PNG8, PNG24, GIF, Animated GIF (first frame only), BMP, WEBP, RAW, ICO image file that is provided as input, using Google Vision’s powerful IA.

WARNING: This service provides text detection operations in an image such as a scene. If you intend to perform an OCR operation on a document, please refer to our “Google Vision - OCR Document (PDF/TIFF/GIF)” plugin.

The plugin returns a list of text, words, and the detected language.

Hey @redvivi - does this plugin have the functionality to scan the mobile camera preview (so that the user doesn’t need to take a photo and can just position the text in the camera viewport) and detect text?
Our app users will need to scan the numbers in a barcode to remove the need to capture the numbers manually. Is this possible with this plugin?

Thanks for your message and your interest in our plugin!

Unfortunately, this plugin is specialized at detecting a text in an image.

What you are referring to is to implement a barcode reader using Google Vision.
This is definitely possible and require a custom plugin development that we would be happy to carry out.
