Small context… this is a simple page editor I made. I am so close to finishing it finally! But there’s a really strange issue happening that I haven’t been able to fix in 2 days now.

There’s a repeating group that loads all objects for the page. Simple enough. Each cell has a group, with an image inside, and another group for a top blue editing bar (which you click if you want to activate dragging). Everything works fine on desktop, but for some reason, you can’t edit things twice on mobile. It just locks and you can’t click the group again, no workflow runs.

On mobile… it locks after the first time you edit an object as soon as you click the “done” button (either the red save button, or the “x”). You can’t come back to it after to edit it again, but you can on desktop. It’s like the object suddenly becomes unclickable on mobile after you’re “done” with it. Settings are the same for desktop and mobile so it makes no sense.

After this, no matter how much you click it, nothing happens. No workflow runs. It’s fully locked/unclickable. Which is senseless, because the first time you load the page you can click each group fine… once, before they lock after you’re done editing them once.

Does anyone know what’s causing this really odd behavior? I’m genuinely really confused and I don’t know what could be causing this.

I get this message when loading on firefox

Is this happening on your mobile device also?

Hey, thanks for passing by!

No, this is actually kind of unrelated. The reason I put that warning message (just a conditional that detects when an user is using firefox and shows the popup) was for an issue we had some months back where our social media feed was overlapping cells at the very end and the user couldn’t keep scrolling infinitely. Bubble told us it was some hard limit issue (to our surprise), and to offer navigation by using repeating group pages as an alternative. But that would really ruin the flow for our users who wanted a full social media experience with infinite scrolling rather than a forum-like navigation with pages. So we just opted to tell users to beware of firefox instead. To be fair, I haven’t checked if this was ever somehow fixed by bubble. Maybe it is… but I’d have to thoroughly test it more.

But in regard to the issue here, it happens on my mobile device (android), and on firefox inspector in mobile mode. I don’t think it’s related to be honest.

The weird thing is that merely shrinking window size doesn’t re-produce the issue, but when I turn on mobile mode in the inspector with the tapping it happens, same as on mobile.

I had tried that earlier and saw nothing wrong as well, so it doesn’t seem related to the width of the screen. I couldn’t reproduce the issue as I didn’t attempt from a mobile device. Are you using custom code or a plugin?

You got it! I am using a custom plugin for transformations but now… You just made me realize, I was trying out a plugin by another author that activates workflows when holding down for X seconds (I didn’t do much with it yet), but I had connected the ID to the group regardless, only that.

I removed it and it’s working fine now! I thought since I didn’t run any workflows with it yet or activated conditionals that it wouldn’t affect anything. I kept going over and over through the conditionals and workflows and layout. Go Boston!! so crazy how all sorts of bugs come up during dev.

Thanks Boston. This completes my work of years… I think we’re ready now!!!

Glad you found it…something I personally do not do often enough and I’m trying to keep on top of mind when debugging issues, is the ability to preview the page with no custom HTML or Plugins.

It has definitely helped me determine more easily that something strange is actually a bug and not caused by me.

That’s actually really useful I didn’t know I could do this! I’m sure this will 100% come useful at some point, especially with the myriad of mysteries that come up at times. Thank you Boston  I was starting to feel hopeless. I’m truly so happy to have solved this. I’m going to have some tea now…
