How to understand the logic when using a template?

Hi,
I’m using a template. This template has a login button on the header. This button has a conditional setting of changing the text to Logout if the “header’s mode is ‘loggedin’”.

Now the problem is on signup, there is no setting of the mode to “loggedin”. I’m unable to do this myself either because the workflow editor does not seem to find the header in the Element options when setting state on Login.

Essentially my question is, when using templates, how does one reverse engineer these issues? How do you figure out where the code/logic sits.

It should sit in that workflow, a lot of the templates look nice but are lacking logic.
