UPDATE: Found someone. Thanks for the quick response!
I’m building my first Bubble app and using openBuild as my framework.
Loving it!
I need to make some database design decisions and am getting tripped up on some workflow things (like openBuild’s navigation) and am tired of burning time re-reading their documentation or looking for Youtube videos.
So, I’m willing pay someone to be my “on demand” advisor who can help answer some my questions swiftly.
I’m not excited about sharing my app in forums, as I plan on monetizing it. But contracting with someone, getting them under NDA, ramping them up on the project so they know the context of what I’m asking about, makes sense.
Requirements:
English language skills
Reasonably accessible (I typically work in the evenings and weekends… I’m in AZ so currently Pacific time zone)
Will likely hop on an initial call to walk through the app but then rely on email for question/answer stuff
Experience with Bubble’s responsive design (most users will likely be on mobile)
Experience with external API calls (I’m pulling in data from 3rd party systems)
Experience with good database designs
Experience with optimizing Bubble’s utilization
Reasonable hourly rate
Note: I like what openBuild brings to the table, but I’m not married to it.
I did try Canvas and found it WAY TOO CONFUSING.
Don’t forget - if you’re worried about someone nicking your idea, then that will happen whether you keep it a secret now or in 6 months. Your strength is likely you, which nobody can steal (whether that be industry knowledge, connections, your team). If you’re building something in a month on Bubble, so can anyone else!
I’ve never touched openBuild, seems to just be a UI library which is fine. Navigation is generally best done through URL parameters in a single page app. There are a few approaches to it. @rico.trevisan has made a video of his approach: Single-page application framework: App Shell [free tutorial]
For multi-page apps, navigation’s pretty straightforward as it’s just Go to page…
I fully agree with your position about someone running with the idea, too. But there is a difference in what state the app is in when the idea gets out there. I’m going slow as I’m learning the platform at the same time. Someone with a bunch of experience could move faster than me right now. But once the app is done, I’ll have that needed head start.
It’s a pretty comprehensive system I’m building, so even a team likely couldn’t do it in a month
I appreciate the links to more resources… still hope to find someone who can just answer my questions quickly.
Hopefully you’ll see me on the cover of Fast Company in a couple of years (if magazines even exist then)!
