It’s a quirk of the picture uploader. You can control how an image element looks, but you can’t control the picture uploader in the same way. If you want to have a better experience without using a plugin, here’s what you can do:

  1. Create a parent group which contains inside of it a picture uploader, an image element and a button or icon.
  2. Make the image (data source: Current user’s avatar) visible by default and the uploader invisible by default
  3. When the icon or button is clicked, hide the image and show the picture uploader (it’s best practice to use states and conditionals for this).
  4. Allow the user to upload a new picture
  5. When the picture is uploaded hide the uploader and make the image visible again.

Best wishes and good luck
