Inout Character Limit ignored if user pastes in text

Hi there - I have a input fields that have a character limit. If the user is typing the input will stop if the limit is reached, but if the user pastes in text more the character limit the button to create a thing allows it. Is this a bug?

Also, I expect someone will tell me to use the workflow to check that the character limit hasn’t been exceeded, but i’m going to have dozens of these limits, so would rather not have to go that route.

Any other solutions?

A js solution would be rather simple. Does this exist?
