Input Form Question: Adding An Automatic ID and Item Number

I thank you in advance for helping me with another quick newbie question.

What’s the best way to do this on an input form or am I doing it wrong to begin… I have attached a pic.

1. I would like to have it to where they put in the customer ID once at the beginning of a session, and when they click submit on the form part and are redirected to a new form to add the next item, the ID # will now automatically be in the data or tied to every item afterward in the ID’s database.
2. Item #. The first input item I have is for them to add an item number, how can I automate it so it goes in a sequence item number so the next form is automatically item #2 , then #3 and so on. But not like a main data item number for the whole database, just so it’s tied to that one ID.
