Instagram Oauth > not creating new user in database & how do I grab short-lived access token?

Hi- I just successfully set up Instagram Oauth API, but it’s not creating a new user in my database. Does anyone know why? Google Oauth would automatically create a new user entry, but doesn’t seem like Instagram is doing the same.

Secondly, how do I grab the short-lived access token, so I can exchange for the longer-lived one?
