Introducing BB Command - Configurable keyboard shortcuts for elements in your bubble editor

BB Command is a free chrome extension meant to help you build faster through setting up keyboard commands for the bubble elements within your bubble editor. Configure once use forever. Most editors (e.g Figma etc) have commands that you can use to select and place elements on the canvas (it’s a pretty popular and useful pattern), however bubble doesn’t so I wanted to build something that could help solve that. BB Command was the result of that exploration:

Want to place a group on the bubble canvas?

Instead of:
navigating to the side panel → searching for group → clicking on the group element → then moving your mouse back to the canvas to place the group…

You can:
Configure the group keyboard command in BB Command once e.g “shift” + “g”
immediately use that command in the editor. Then keep using the command

Here’s a loom video going through BB Command (Apologies for the very spotty audio - the audio gods were not with me today even after multiple takes):

Some notes:

  • Once you configure your commands it should populate across all your editors. Though there might be situations where you’ll want to refresh the editor to make sure that the commands you just configured work (this should be fairly rare).

  • I built this extension with the opinion of “Don’t mess with the editor”. Bubble’s editor has been seeing encountering issues, per the megathread that was created on it, so I wanted to build something that would not interfere or mess with any of the editor capabilities; instead it would complement already existing editor capabilities. To this end, for e.g. that’s why the keyboard command keys are not visible within the editor but are visible within an extension - it was my way of trying to mess with the editor as little as possible.

Cheers! (and hopefully happy bubbling)

Thanks! The feedback about this has been good so far. If you’ve used it - feel free to share your thoughts on the forum here (good, bad, meh) it’s all useful info.
