Introducing Humanmap: Simplifying Org Charts & Team Connections!

Hey Bubble community!

I’m thrilled to share Humanmap with you, a platform that takes the complexity out of creating and maintaining organizational charts, while giving teams a new way to connect. Humanmap allows companies to build an org chart that goes beyond titles, encouraging employees to discover common interests and passions that foster a more connected work environment.

My Bubble Journey :rocket:

As I built Humanmap, I realized I’d need the right blend of performance and flexibility to deliver the best experience. After some experimentation, I chose to handle the core business logic and org chart visualization using traditional code with Express.js for optimal speed and resilience. However, I rely on Bubble to power the customer back office, giving me the flexibility to iterate quickly on interfaces and focus more on delivering value than getting bogged down in UI refinements.

This setup strikes a great balance between performance and fast-paced development. Bubble’s strengths in building and iterating on frontends help me manage customer-facing elements efficiently, while Express.js ensures robust backend processing.

But there’s one aspect I’m keeping an eye on: Bubble’s API connector. It’s vital as the bridge between Bubble and my backend. While it’s sufficient for now, I’m watching closely to see if it can keep up as traffic scales. If needed, I may rework API call management and architecture down the road, but for now, the speed is perfect for my use case.

How Bubble Helps Me Build Faster :zap:

For anyone starting their journey, here’s what I’ve learned:

  • Speed & Flexibility: Bubble lets me iterate quickly on customer-facing interfaces, allowing me to focus on delivering a clean, engaging experience.
  • Focus on Value, Not Form: I can concentrate my time and resources on valuable features rather than UI details, which saves tons of time and boosts customer satisfaction.

If you’re interested in an easy-to-use org chart solution, or just want to see how I’m bridging Bubble with traditional code, I’d love for you to take a look! Feedback is always welcome as I’m committed to continuous improvement, and if you find Humanmap helpful, I’d appreciate it if you shared it with others who might benefit.

Thanks for reading, and a big shout-out to the Bubble community for being such a resourceful place to learn and grow. Happy to answer any questions about my setup or Bubble journey!

it would be helpful to understand why you went this route and not use a plugin like https://demoeazycode.bubbleapps.io/version-test/orgchart and keep everything bubble?

For 2 main reasons :

  • This plugin was to restrictive for the features i planned (for exemple different nodes template, passions’ list, …)
  • I prefere to keep the core logic outside Bubble to avoid complete dependence on one platform
