Is a US phone number actually required for Stripe?

Stripe works fine for me (EIN issued, payouts active), but Atlas says a US phone number is still required.
Paying $19/month for nothing is not good.

Is a US phone number actually required, or just recommended?
Anyone running Stripe long-term without one?

Atlas is to register a business entity in USA, hence you need a phone number. If you use Stripe already, you need another one in the USA most of the time

From a compliance perspective, the US number is usually tied to your KYC (Know Your Customer) requirements if you’re using a US-based entity like an Atlas LLC. Even if the dashboard lets you bypass it initially, the risk engine might trigger a manual review if it detects a mismatch between your entity location and your contact info. I’ve managed an account for two years using a Google Voice number tied to a US account and had zero issues with payouts or Atlas documentation. It’s safer for the long-term stability of the account
