I released a plugin some time ago to convert BBCode to Markdown and vice versa. This new plugin is updated and upgraded, now allowing for the following, without an element on the page, workflow action:

BBCode > Markdown
BBCode > HTML
Markdown > BBCode
Markdown > HTML
HTML > BBCode
HTML > Markdown
