[New Plugin] Smart Calendar: w/ Built In Search, Alerts, Filters & Option Set Based Colors 🤩!

Anyone else tired of the current calendar options? Well, be tired no longer!

I am happy to announce the launch of my calendar plugin Smart Calendar . A calendar that does everything you want, and more!

One that has built in search, custom alerts for urgent events, and can color itself straight from your option sets.

Yes… I said colors from your option sets. This means you don’t have to hardcode hex codes any more! Also works with filters and sorting FROM YOUR OPTIONS SETS :smiling_face_with_tear:!

What makes it different?

Search built in
Type-ahead search across your events. Picking a result jumps the calendar to that event, flashes it, and fires your detail workflow in a single click - even if it was buried behind a “+N more” link. No workflows needed to wire it up.

Per-viewer alerts
Feed it a per-user expression like Current User’s Alerts and each viewer gets a “! N Alerts” pill listing only their own urgent events - pinned red to the top of their day with an unmistakable badge. No urgent flags stored on your shared event type.

Colors, sort and filter straight from your option sets
Point the pickers at the Status option set you already have and chip colors and sort order and filtering come along for free. No color fields bolted onto your data type, no lookup workarounds, and the legend builds itself from the same statuses.

Connects to any Bubble data type
Pick your data type once and every mapping becomes a dropdown of that type’s fields. No typing field names as strings, no guesswork. Works exactly like Bubble’s native elements.

A legend that filters
Every status in the legend is a click-to-filter toggle that hides or shows those events across all views, with a “Show all” reset and workflow events on every change.

Your hours, your views
A Month grid with true multi-day spanning chips, Week and Day views with a real hour grid covering the hours you choose (like 8 AM to 6 PM), or clean per-day lists in All Day Mode for calendars where events belong to a day, not an hour.

Other good stuff

:white_check_mark: Skeleton loading - shimmering placeholders instead of a blank grid while your data fetches
:white_check_mark: “+N more” opens a day popover with the day’s full event list
:white_check_mark: Collapse past weeks so a busy month never pushes today off screen
:white_check_mark: Hide weekends for a clean 5-column work week
:white_check_mark: Three chip styles and two densities, and it inherits your Bubble fonts and styles live
:white_check_mark: 17 states, 8 events, and 8 actions for complete workflow control
:white_check_mark: 12 or 24 hour time, custom day labels, Monday or Sunday week start
:white_check_mark: No external libraries, no CDN calls

FAQ

Does it work on mobile?
Yes, every interaction has touch support.

Can users create or edit events from the calendar?
Clicks fire workflow events with the full event details (id, title, dates, color), so you build creation and editing exactly how you want it - your existing popups plug straight in.

Does it handle recurring events?
Occurrences come from your data source, and each one displays like any other event.

This looks very nice!

Thank you!! Figured it was time to revamp the calendar plugins out there

Overall good job.

The scrolling of calendar in month view when on mobile is a little difficult to work with.

When in month, I select a date, I see it outlined, I click day view and it’s not that selected date.

In day view, the example of 21 July has two events, 7pm and 9pm, the day view ends at 9pm so it’s hard to see visually a duration or if there is or is not any events after.

I like the idea of option set read for colors. Is there a way to map which colors in an option set to use or not? I didn’t open the editor as I’m on my phone.

Thanks for the great feedback. Yeah mobile monthly calendar is tricky. I was thinking users would opt for a weekly or daily view if they wanted to use it on mobile but I might go ahead and make some adjustments here.

I did see there was a bug with the day selection and swapping tabs so I am fixing that now, thanks for that!

In regards to the day view time. That is actually a field that is editable. I had it set to show 6am to 9pm but you can set it to show any time range you want on the day view. I updated it to be 5am to 12am in the demo

For the option set colors. Yeah you select what field in the data you want to use like a status field. And then can reference that option sets color field to display.
