New Startup, Built with Bubble! - KeepTabs.io

But thanks for the correction - i surely appreciate

yes, of course you can use Bubble to make great landing pages. I just don’t think it’s right tool for doing so. Also your Bubble market looks great!

Thanks Ben!

I recommend the approach Ben took. I did something similar with the Code-Free Startup and it worked well. The homepage http://codefree.co is built with Wordpress, which allows me to install really useful SEO plugins like Yoast SEO to help boost it. Now when you Google “Code a startup” or “code startup” we are results #2 and #4.

When you click any of the “signup” or “login” links, you get taken to the Bubble app, http://go.codefree.co and it’s pretty straightforward from there.

With how much noise is currently in the startup ecosystem, your homepage design needs to be flawless to get taken seriously. Better to use tools like Webflow and Wordpress for the design aspects where it takes a matter of minutes to get something beautiful and responsive, and Bubble for the actual app with heavy lifting after you’ve captured someone’s interest.

Well if there are stuff we can do for SEO I’d rather fix them. The one that comes the most often is sitemap, but apparently it’s not that clear how much it helps.

Also, if you type “Bubble” on Google we’re usually first, and it’s built on Bubble

Just my two cents but I recently got into bubble and tried webflow and Bubble seems way more intuitive in terms of getting something up in a matter of minutes. I thought that Webflow’s interface was a bit kludgy.

agree

I think out of the important components for a good SEO, the H1, H2 tags are missing. If you could add those I guess it would improve the search visibility. Not sure if sitemap is so critical, especially when it’s a few page app.

Any other advises from SEO experts?

Thanks,
Levon.

We could add that though if you think about it it’s very easy to add that with an HTML element yourself. Let’s see what others say though.

Header + meta tags, and an auto-generated sitemap would be a good start.

I thought meta tags were already supported through settings->metatags…

More than anything, its about content and inbound links. If your content stays very static and have very little links pointing to your site, its hard to rank high.

Bubble has the metatags (title, description). The one thing that is somewhat important are H1 and H2 of which im not sure how they are handled in Bubble.

I built the landing page on bubble but we’re not live yet so have to see how well we will be found…

Anyway, great job on KeepTabs, I’ll look into it somewhat more and try to give you some feedback if it helps

One thing i noticed right off the bat is the home page design. I think it could be a little more harmonized in terms of color palette. Also, I always think its good (and basically I just copy from well known, existing brands’ sites) to have a little more information about your product above the fold. Perhaps you can shrink the laptop image and pull the text bullets more up. For some reason the big laptop feels a bit ‘off’.

I’ll try and register when I have a bit more time!

Got this msg when signing up:

Not sure what caused it, maybe a conflict with my Dashlane plugin.

Your verification email is sent from bubble. I would personalize that because this is a little confusing.

Is this expected behavior for the home page?

It says i last contacted my mom on a specific date:

How would the app know? :stuck_out_tongue:

I think overall, the app is a great idea. I personally wouldnt use it because I will def forget to add reminders. It would be awesome if I could connect my communications services (facebook messenger (which i almost never use), whatsapp etc and show me which conversations I need to still reply to or remind me i havent spoken to someone for a while. To your point on the home page about investors and prospects, i think those reminders should sit in a CRM they use. To me, this app feels better targeted towards private people. But it is a tough market as you are competing with other to-do-apps, calendar apps and even CRM systems as you point out.

/just my two cents

I still think it’s amazing to see how much can be done with so little resources in so little time!

Hey Vincent!

I think the sign up is a dashlane issue. just tried it and it works for me!

yea, thats the expected behavior of the home page. I think i’m going to have sign up redirect to the new contact page though, along with some basic instructions.

The last interaction is simply -30 days from when you added the person (you added her july 25, and added her interaction from one month earlier, june 25). The reasoning behind this is so the contact is Red, and you can add the correct information in the contact view.

@levon @vincent56 Should have specified. The current metatags in Bubble can actually hurt SEO, because they are the same for each page. Matt Cutts, the SEO authority at Google, says that you either need to have specific metatags for each page on your site or you’re better off not including them at all. However, I don’t think Bubble needs to drop everything and focus on SEO improvements. I’d much rather see improvements with the API connector and database speed.

I’m not sure I understand, why not just specify the metatags for each page in the page header definition ?

@vega.andrew that’s definitely a way to accomplish it with individual metatag code in each header, but it’s not code free and requires writing your own metatags or using a generator outside of Bubble. What’s worked well for Wordpress and others is to just have a text field where you can separate keywords, description, H1 + H2 tags and then it generates the right tags for you.

This will take some time, and as I mentioned before, Yoast is an entire suite dedicated to SEO. If there was a way to integrate with them or another suite, it would save a lot of time. Here’s just a sample of what Yoast tells me about my homepage in Wordpress for http://codefree.co

Gotcha. Thanks. I just wanted to make sure that was still a viable workaround. +1 on this feature.

This is my first post in this forum, so it better be useful!

Reading through SquareSpace issues with SEO on quora, a link was posted to what they have been working on to address the matter. The fact is users will always say SEO isn’t right for site builders, but that’s not necessarily true. It depends what each platform does to improve SEO.

Anyway, here’s what SquareSpace did since a long time ago:

right click on the page you want as the index, and click “Make this page new index”, no?

We pushed last week some stuff that covers most of the things on squarespace’s list.

The challenge with SEO is that nobody really knows what is important…
