Platform Pricing and R.G. Provider Placement

I am in the process of brainstorming ideas on pricing for my marketplace business platform.

I have read through some chapters on this site

as well as some links they referenced in their article on pricing strategy

I am very familiar with some of the ideas they present and the strategies that companies like “booking.com” use to keep as many providers on platform as possible while capturing higher commissions on an “opt-in” basis.

Basically if you are willing to pay a higher commission you get higher rankings in the search results, ideally resulting in more reservations or sales.

Does anybody have any experience with implementing a strategy like this in the way in which you display search results?

I am curious if it might be as simple as putting a sort onto the search result that sorts based on “commission percentage” which would be a data field on your provider data type in the database.
