Plugin pages: beautiful marketing vs. messy editor experience... can we have both?

A lot of plugin creators use bbcode to make their plugin pages look better.

Here’s some examples from my PDF Creator plugin:

This is useful. However, the problem is that when a user installs the plugin and then goes to view the plugin page in their editor, the bbcode is not formatted and you get this not nice looking mess:

So you have to choose between:

  • Making your plugin landing pages look good
  • Having your plugin pages look pretty messy in the editor

I’ve made the conscious choice that this trade-off is worth it, but it would be better if we could just have the plugin pages in the editor either render with bbcode formatted correctly (or have some other way of being able to format them).

I’ve submitted this as an idea to the sideboard. Any upvotes (or feedback) appreciated!

I agree with you, and I hope they fix things.

I was looking at a plugin a couple of weeks ago by one of the big plugin developer companies, and the page looked so messed up that I thought it was risky to try and use the plugin because it looked like amateur hour going on.

This is exactly the kind of thing I was afraid was happening
