Populating user data through their unique API connection

Hi!
Been searching around and it seems a little unclear if and how it would be possible to collect data on behalf of a user with their own API credentials. Using the API plugin only seems to work for me, but I would like each user to access their own data. Dead end or possible?

Totally possible, but it depends on the specific API and the methods of connection and authorisation as to how exactly you need to go about it…
