Pre-Hiring Advice

I am interested in hiring someone to work with me to develop a SaaS. I have a background of experience that should enable me to do a lot of the work with initial guidance (I don’t know bubble yet, but I expect I’ll learn rapidly while building), as well as someone to do more complicated parts independently, and to advise me regarding ancillary decisions about architecture and deployment, etc.

Like many ideators, I am afraid of disclosing my spec to the wrong person, and despite the mocking dismissals I’ve heard on this subject, I am familiar with someone to whom this happened.

Maybe I should hire someone to work with me for a set number of hours per month for 3 to 6 months … Maybe I should go through AirDev… I have no idea what’s appropriate to offer for maybe 20 hours a month with a three month minimum, with potential for more…

Does anyone have any thoughts they wish to share with me about this?

  • I do think I would like to work with someone in the US, as I don’t feel experienced enough to do otherwise.

Hello

I have worked with lots of business owners and startups helping validate their ideas in the market. Going from having just an app idea to a working web application built on bubble.

Here is my linkedin profile where you can view my recommendations from clients that I have worked with; https://www.linkedin.com/in/tobi-bolumole-92718727a/

I also do bubble tutoring and would love to talk with you more on this subject probably on a video call.

Open to hear your thoughts,

Tobi Bolumole

Hey @christine :waving_hand:

I have a lot of clients that do coaching where we work one-on-one together on the project and I don’t even need access to the app. There is an NDA for all of my clients. I would suggest, if you are worried about someone taking your idea, make sure to hire someone where you can actually take legal action if something were to happen. Try hiring someone in the same country that you live.

We also do dev work if you want to chat about options.

I am also on the official bubble coaching page.

Does that help?

Regarding my proposal of potentially 20 hours a month for three months, if I were to hire you, how much would that cost? Are you interested in having a zoom meeting with me? How would I vett you?

Oh, I’m looking at your website right now!

Completely understand your concern regarding this, hiring in unknown territory could be daunting, I would recommend you to do a 7 day sprint with the developer, if you both match the vibe only then move ahead
Also depends on how fast you want go to market product and how prepared you are with your product in terms of Features, design etc..

Hey @christine

I’m Hassaan Khan, a certified Bubble developer and the founder of LowCodeFlow, a Bubble.io development agency. I’ve built over 50 SaaS platforms, marketplaces, and automation tools, working with founders who, like you, want to be involved in the process while getting expert support. My background is in finance, product development, and no-code consulting, and I’ve helped startups and businesses launch and scale their products efficiently.

Your approach of learning Bubble while building your SaaS makes a lot of sense. I’d be happy to guide you through the process, helping with complex workflows, database setup, and integrations while making sure the app is built in a way that is scalable and efficient. I can also advise on architecture, deployment, and best practices to ensure long-term success. Whether it’s working together for 20 hours a month or adjusting as needed, I’m open to structuring the collaboration in a way that works best for you.

I completely understand your concerns about protecting your idea. Confidentiality is something I take very seriously, and I’d be happy to sign an NDA to give you peace of mind. My goal is to help bring your vision to life, not take it.

If you’re open to it, let’s set up a quick call to discuss your project, your goals, and how we can work together. You can book a time that works for you here: Calendly. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Best,
Hassaan Khan

Just Dm’d you!

Just wanted to personally vouch for @J805 - From reading what youre looking for, he seems like the perfect fit.

I love that your goal is to mainly build it yourself. Thats what Bubble is all about.

Good luck in hiring. You’re right to have the hesitations you have, and I think being as cautious as you are being, youll be fine.

@christine , your plan makes sense.

A few tips:

  • Ask for a short Loom intro + portfolio walkthrough. It tells you way more than just a link or website.
  • During the work, have them explain via Loom while making changes or do things live with you. Helps you learn and builds trust.
  • Always do a 1-day trial project before committing long-term.
  • Ask for a NDA if you are concerned about sharing your idea (I have a template for this, let me know if helpful)

After person passed trial project, 20 hours/month for 3 months sounds like a solid start.

Last tip: consider what your constraint is

  • If it is time then outsource the Bubble development to a good freelancer/agency
  • If it is money then you probably want to do more of the Bubble work yourself
but in both scenarios make sure to focus at least 50% of time to talking to (potential) users as this is critical to make sure you built something that actually solves you user’s problem

PS: I run a Bubble Agency https://www.minimum-code.com/
