I am interested in hiring someone to work with me to develop a SaaS. I have a background of experience that should enable me to do a lot of the work with initial guidance (I don’t know bubble yet, but I expect I’ll learn rapidly while building), as well as someone to do more complicated parts independently, and to advise me regarding ancillary decisions about architecture and deployment, etc.
Like many ideators, I am afraid of disclosing my spec to the wrong person, and despite the mocking dismissals I’ve heard on this subject, I am familiar with someone to whom this happened.
Maybe I should hire someone to work with me for a set number of hours per month for 3 to 6 months … Maybe I should go through AirDev… I have no idea what’s appropriate to offer for maybe 20 hours a month with a three month minimum, with potential for more…
Does anyone have any thoughts they wish to share with me about this?
I do think I would like to work with someone in the US, as I don’t feel experienced enough to do otherwise.
I have worked with lots of business owners and startups helping validate their ideas in the market. Going from having just an app idea to a working web application built on bubble.
I have a lot of clients that do coaching where we work one-on-one together on the project and I don’t even need access to the app. There is an NDA for all of my clients. I would suggest, if you are worried about someone taking your idea, make sure to hire someone where you can actually take legal action if something were to happen. Try hiring someone in the same country that you live.
We also do dev work if you want to chat about options.
Regarding my proposal of potentially 20 hours a month for three months, if I were to hire you, how much would that cost? Are you interested in having a zoom meeting with me? How would I vett you?

Ask for a short Loom intro + portfolio walkthrough. It tells you way more than just a link or website.
During the work, have them explain via Loom while making changes or do things live with you. Helps you learn and builds trust.
Always do a 1-day trial project before committing long-term.
Ask for a NDA if you are concerned about sharing your idea (I have a template for this, let me know if helpful)
After person passed trial project, 20 hours/month for 3 months sounds like a solid start.
Last tip: consider what your constraint is
If it is time then outsource the Bubble development to a good freelancer/agency
If it is money then you probably want to do more of the Bubble work yourself
but in both scenarios make sure to focus at least 50% of time to talking to (potential) users as this is critical to make sure you built something that actually solves you user’s problem
