Hi Bubble community,
I recently had my AI-powered Writing Assistant template rejected because Bubble flagged an OpenAI API error during testing. However, as per Bubble’s own rules, I cannot include my personal API key in the template. Instead, users are instructed to input their key, which is clearly stated in the template description.
This rejection feels unjustified and raises concerns about the review process. Has anyone else faced similar issues? If such professional oversights continue, I’m considering whether Bubble is the right platform.
I think Bubble is making the right call. What are you going to do if users of your template abuse your API calls? Blame Bubble?
I think the fix here is to do a little more UX thinking and detect the incomplete setup conditions - and gracefully display it to a User - with a nice message like “It seems that you are yet to add your Open AI key - find it < here > and add it < here >. Until you do that this service will not work.” Possibly consider designing your template so that it is demonstrable without an Open AI key and encourages the Users to complete the setup.
Users expect things to “just work” and not appear broken, missing setup isn’t “broken”.
Good luck

My plugin was rejected because I didn’t include a demo editor, which needs to be set to everyone can view. Reason I didn’t is for whatever reason, when it was set that way, the plugin failed. I made a video explaining the situation in anticipation of the rejection.
Once I received rejection email, I sent in an email to support with video and explained what I needed, which is for plugin to be approved.
20 minutes later the plugin was approved.

I think that’s unfair to say about someone.
He has a lot of experience with Bubble and likes using it.
There’s nothing wrong with that.
He has a right to stick up for Bubble if he thinks it’s being discredited.
I have my own opinions, but I wouldn’t ever discredit someone for theirs.
It’s ok to have an honest discussion, but I don’t see the need to try and use that kind of stuff to win an argument.
Added: I’ve gotten a ton of tips from him and I appreciate the time he takes to help others on the forum.
