Repeating Group, First is out of order

I have a repeating group sorted by a custom field, “Published Date”.
It works for the most part, except the first result is not the most recent one. It’s the 2nd recent one. I’ve inspected the fields and data, and everything looks right.

Any insight would be helpful (i feel like it’s something small I am missing)

Have you tried sorting it using the built in ”Creation Date” to locate if the issue is with the custom field sorting? Also, is the ”Published Date” of type Date?
