This isn’t true @randomanon - you can append an API token to the file URL and it’ll work with private files.

That’s actually kind of a relief because it would let me upload private files to 3rd party APIs.

This is not documented anywhere in the manual meaning it’s not a “supported” behavior. It is also not an ideal way to deal with this, there should be scoped privileges.
