I think this is cool. I just want to confirm, if I want to share a link with someone I would have to tell a user to first navigate to sling.cloud and then search that short phrase on the website? Is that not more effort and more steps than just sharing the original URL or a customized shortened bitly link (which can also be shared verbally and can conveniently be typed directly into the browser)?
I like it. I agree that it requires mass adoption or adoption within a closed system for users to really benefit from the system (I believe this will be the most difficult part to get your startup moving even with offering a free service). I personally think this is a really cool idea with multiple useful use cases. I especially like privately sharing contact details, file sharing and URL shortening and that this can all be done within one single app. I wanted to check it out, so I tried to sign up by clicking the “Create A Free Account” button, but after I typed in my username and clicked the right chevron button, nothing happened. I expect the app to prompt me to the next step or next page to sign up?
I think you’re being a bit harsh. That’s for the market to decide, not a single person. I say @dominic should pursue any idea he finds interesting and thinks is worth working on.
I think this could be cool given his use cases mentioned above. In my mind I think of “bitly but for human voice ->human ears sharing”
