Stripe for fundraising

hello, i was making an app for users to fund their projects, was wondering if stripe is a possible option to do fundraising or are there any suggested plugins to do this kind of stuff? many thanks!

Anyone?

From my last read of the accepted uses. It’s in the “most likely no” section.

are there any suggested plugins to do this kind of stuff?

Unless you can prove that you are a charity or NGO. So no Kickstarter clones from what I remember. You can find more info in their docs, look for “Prohibited and Restricted Businesses”.

It’s not about plugins at your juncture. You need to find a payment processor that will accept your business. The plugins just make API calls to a specific PP.

is there any suggestion for such payment processor?

Hey there! A few additional thoughts to complement the great advice above:

  • Consider Nonprofit Status:
Stripe typically requires verification of official nonprofit or charity status before approving accounts for fundraising purposes. If possible, registering as a recognized nonprofit can streamline your setup.

  • Explore Fundraising-Specific Platforms:
Tools like Donorbox, Givebutter, or GoFundMe already handle compliance and legal requirements for fundraising. They integrate smoothly with Stripe, making the whole process much easier and safer.

  • Look Into Alternative Payment Processors:
If obtaining nonprofit status isn’t feasible, platforms like PayPal Donations or Braintree can sometimes be more flexible with fundraising scenarios, though they will require thorough KYC checks.

  • Talk Directly with Stripe’s Sales Team:
If you’re set on using Stripe directly, reach out to their sales or support team to discuss using solutions like Stripe Connect (with Destination Charges or Escrow), clearly explaining your fundraising use-case. They might offer tailored solutions.

Good luck—I hope your fundraising campaign is a huge success!
