Stripe Subscription Question - Free Subscription Issue

Hey there - my app has three tiers of subscription of which the base one is a free subscription. I have all three set up in staging and they work as follows

  1. Free - 1. Subscribe User to Plan Through Stripe
  2. Paid Plans- 1. Collected Credit Card Info. 2. Subscribe User to Plan Through Stripe

on staging these work fine, where the free plan just gets the “your subscription has been updated” pop up. When I publish this to live how ever the free plan starts prompting to collect the credit card info like the paid plans do on staging.

Ive checked my stripe settings and products exist in both staging and production. Cant seem to find any other reason. Anyone have any help?

If you call the checkout API even for $0 it will collect the credit card info. So instead of sending the user to Stripe, handle the Free Subscription case at your side.
