I was trying to compare the order of 2 lists and it dawned on me (and my buddy Claude), that I could just format the entire list in to text by their unique IDs and it works.

Something like this:

Are there better ways to do this?

Maybe, this is the method I always use to check two lists are identical. If comparing Things, use unique IDs and it’ll be correct all the time. If comparing anything else just be careful.

It’s technically possible for two lists, formatted as text, to appear the same, when they’re not.

Suppose I have two lists of things:

“apple”, “banana”, “orange” (3 texts)

“apple, banana”, “orange” (2 texts)

:format as text with a comma delimiter will say they’re the same when they’re not.

Do I still use this method? Yeah, of course, but it’s worth noting (in case the reason you’re comparing is particularly critical).

I tried Bubbling the solution. In the end I built a plugin. Way easier to keep track of one element.

See if it works for you.
