Using auto bind to move data between pages

Hi I am looking for a way to gather information via a text input and place that data in a text element on a seperate page. I have been attempting to use auto bind but I’m not sure that is going to work. I have it working on a single page. Is there another way to move text between pages.

Hi Simon,

It depends of what the final use of that text will be. If you need to save that data, I recommend you save it in a data field, and populate that text in the other page. However, if you just want to send that information between pages, I recommend you use url parameters.

I tried using the data base option by setting the auto binding element to a field in in the data area but nothing ever poopulated it. I also couldn’t quite work out how to retrieve that data on the other end. The Url option seems to come up bit in searches but I haven’t found an example of how that process works. ie what url and how to bind that to a specific field. This is really just text moving that has no value once the second page has been viewed and potentially printed.

If you know of any examples of how i can grabe the text input box url and send that to the text element on the second page I would appreciate it. I will also continue that search now that it seems the ways to go.

Hey Simon,

Here is how to do it:

First I have a input and a button in my page

Whenever I click the button go to page a, it will run this workflow:

Now you only need to put this url parameter into the initial value of your next input this way:

If you use auto binding, make sure you go to the privacy rules in the data section and check “allow auto-binding” for that particular field for all users. It’s unchecked by default.

Hi Julian, Yes that did work, Thank you very much. I have worked out how to pass more than one parameter to fill 2 spaces. This means that this proof of concept works. Really appreciate your input.
