Hi everyone!
While building a mobile-only app (no web version), I ran into some confusion around Bubble’s signup and email confirmation process. I wanted to share this for discussion and clarity — and maybe help others avoid the same pitfall.
Here’s what’s confusing:
- In the “Sign the user up” action, we have a checkbox:
Send an email to confirm the email
But it gives you no control over the token, no access to it, and you can’t customize the email easily. - Meanwhile, there is a separate “Send confirmation email” action — and that’s where the real control lives:
- You can use “Just make token, don’t send email”
- Access the confirmation token
- Create custom workflows and emails
But there’s no clear guidance in the UI that explains this split, and it’s easy to assume the first checkbox is “enough” — especially for newer users.
Suggestion:
- Either unify the behavior into one clearer action
- Or make it clearer in the “Sign the user up” UI that the advanced token flow lives elsewhere
Would love to hear how others handle this — and if anyone else has been tripped up by this separation between the two actions.
Thanks in advance!
