Why does bubble evaulate Croppie's result value as empty (nil)

So ive set up some very simple logic, and i could swear this worked before, but i dont understand why it is evaluating croppies result value as nil. the images are uploading and im placing them successfully in a repeating group, so how can it be nil? Is there some coding or bubble nuance i have missed or something?

So i think ive worked it out.

It looks like the exposed state ‘Result image’ should not be used in this way. Im not certain but my changed logic now works as intended so if anyone else is having trouble with this give this a shot.

Use the ‘is loaded’ state instead. Then at the end of your workflow use ‘clear a croppie’ to then reset the selected croppie image back to nil.
