Working on decentralizing a large app +150 subapps away from bubble dependency using Firebase (or other 3rd party cloud) for storage, database, and complex functions. Would like to hire a consultant with native dev experience + Bubble expertise to make sure we’re using best practices and consult on strategy. We’ve been building daily in Bubble for years, so looking for someone who is a true expert, specifically in large-scale apps and creative migration strategies.
PROJECT/PROBLEM:
We’re using one parent app on a team plan to push updates to 150+ subapps (each on a unique domain for each client). We like the control it gives us for putting each client in their own environment, but we’re growing quickly, and the reliability/performance of Bubble on the main cluster is starting to show cracks, so we’d like to get in front of that before we’re at 300+ clients. We’ve gone down the path to move to a dedicated plan, but Bubble wants to charge us $175,000/yr (paid upfront, lol) plus an additional rate per month per app.
SCOPE:
#1 priority is avoiding dependencies & making sure the current team can continue to rapidly develop the platform. Not looking to contract out rebuilding the platform, just strategy how and what is the best way to do it with reliable, mainstream solutions…
Long-term data structure, where we can clean things up and get performance gains
Help us come up with a viable long-term plan that can scale to 1,000+ clients. Not looking to move away from Bubble today, but would like to decentralize so data/files are elsewhere and we can build in parallel (FlutterFlow for an iOS app or native development at some point)
Identify reliable technologies to implement in achieving the roadmap (Currently using a synced firebase for advanced functions + Algolia)
Technical hands-on hours in the logic/code to build/review etc.
COMP:
We’re looking for the best and will pay asking price - $100/hr-$200/hr
On that, we can’t (heavily) support with moving to external DB, but we can certainly optimise and improve existing apps - we helped one client moving to dedicated reduce their costs by around $25k a year in just a couple of weeks.
But if you want DB migration and long term strategy advice for moving it to a traditional tech stack, @lindsay_knowcode is the guy.
Tangential recommendation:
If you haven’t already, I’d highly recommend crowdsourcing opinions on how to do this in subreddits such as r/nocode and r/webdev. I don’t know what it’s like hiring in these communities, but they’re great places to glean technical info from a wide variety of professionals to help vet the people you speak with and guide you to choosing the right tech stack (e.g., I know there’s been a talk about people favoring Supabase over Firebase for various use cases).
Happy to assist. Have 20y of enginering, 10y cloud, 6y+ of bubble experience and done projects for small startups to Large enterprises like CVS Health.
