Are .ics files universally accepted by email/calendar apps?

Im adding .ics support and im assuming that ics files are the way to go for the broadest amount of compatibility but would like to confirm that this is indeed true.

Yeah, it seems to be. I have been using them for a while and it seems to work very well across multiple platforms. It’s a real clean way to send calendar/appointment data to users.
