Fair or not? Mobile plugin editor closed beta only open to specific contributors

I think it’s all in the title.
Not that I’m interested to create mobile plugins. So I’m not personnaly involved in the situation but…

The “Closed Beta” creates an unfair advantage, in my opinion. They occupy a market that should be open to all and generate an income that would be impossible for other users actually, but in the future too. Due to the lack of competition, this could also lead to prohibitive prices. And when the editor will be available to everyone, those who have previously created plugins will retain a considerable advantage for quite some time.

I think that if Bubble want to continue down this path, it must consider this aspect, and I see a few solutions:
A) Restrict the number of plugins an author can publish until they are available to everyone.
B) Published plugins must be free and remain so for life.

Because it’s important to keep in mind that participating in a “closed beta” is to help test the said beta.

What do you think?

You bring up a lot of fair points.

I think the interesting thing to keep in mind is that the mobile plugin editor is in early alpha so yes testers get extra experience (for now) but they are also missing a lot of features/functionality that everyone else will get out of the box once the editor moves into a public beta.

Nonetheless I brought this up and the team is aware of the situation. As you may recall the mobile team is working on in-app purchases and other initiatives while bug bashing the current mobile editor experience. So hopefully we’ll have more updates to share soon.

Agreed. If they are testing for a Beta they shouldn’t be able to charge for the plugins they release.
