I'm on YouTube šŸŽ‰

Hey everyone.

After years of writing books, the Bubble User Manual, forum threads and blog posts, I’ve finally jumped into video content. I’m starting with the basics, and will dive into more advanced topics over time.

Check out the first video below, and subscribe on YouTube to stay in the loop!

This is separate from the work I do with Bubble, so I’ll put my personal spin on it – check it out and let me know what you think!

Thanks for your video.

I’ve learned a lot from you since I’ve began using Bubble.

However, I think the Bubble documentation is terrible.

I’ve learned almost everything I currently know from videos, the forum, etc.

I think Bubble could really make the documentation better…

it’s usually not my first option for trying to learn something about Bubble.

I’m sorry to hear that! What do you think we should focus on to improve it?

search in both the bubble manual and the forum is oddly bad…

for examply, i was looking for a way to count characters in a text field and a search for ā€˜character count’ in the manual came up empty. the forum only had a solution from 2018 or so using regex (yikes), so i asked on the forum and it turns out there’s an operator called ā€˜:number of characters’ which -one would think- would/could/should have been suggested when searching for ā€˜character count’…?

also, i asked once about knowledge management in the forum and the response was to go into google and enter the topic plus bubble.io. hmm.

would be useful to have a cross-referencing KMS mechanism with all the bubble resources (or at least the manual and the forum) - maybe a task for bubble AI …?

Another high-quality Bubble video coming for sure! Instant subscribe.
Good luck, Petter!

Thanks for the feedback @kunigunda!

I agree with you that Gitbook (the platform used for the docs) unfortunately doesn’t have great search capabilites. It’s fairly limited in terms of understanding context versus simply searching for keywords (like your example highlights, you won’t find ā€œcharacter countā€ unless we specifically say character count in the text (and preferably in the header) of the relevant section). Rectifying this one example is of course perfectly doable, but it’s a challenge for content overall.

That being said, it’s clear that AI and LLM’s will gradually replace traditional search. As you probably know, LLM’s are much better at understanding a given context, as opposed to simply searching through text for keywords.

Gitbook has its own AI feature which does help with some questions, but overall, in terms of search, I’ll have to ask for some patience while we work on implementing more robust AI/search features. It may seem on the surface that an LLM simply can be trained on the material we already have, but it’s worth remembering that as Bubble hosts millions of apps that need to stay stable, performant and secure, it’s important that we can confidently say that an AI agent answers questions correctly and doesn’t hallucinate or spread misinformation due to misinterpreted content.

I can’t share the specifics of our discussions at the moment, but based on Bubble’s official communications and the broader tech industry trends, it’s evident that support and documentation are shifting toward AI. This shift will significantly enhance context-aware inquiries.

Thanks for the kind words @divypratap73 !

Indeed a new video (hopefully high quality ) is out today! We won’t be diving into the editor just yet—this time, I’ll be focusing on design theory. I’ll cover some key design terms and principles to kickstart the conversation about one of the most important aspects of app design: responsive design :light_bulb::mobile_phone::artist_palette:

The third video is live! :tada:

In this one, I’m diving deeper into design theory. We’ll continue exploring the two layers that make up your page, with a focus on the structure layer—where we add elements to your page and establish their hierarchy. Check it out!

New video, this time covering Styles, and how to build a brand around your app.

I’d really appreciate your thoughts on the content so far. Scripting, recording, and editing are still things I’m figuring out as I go, so I’m genuinely open to feedback—both on whether you find the material valuable and how the overall quality comes across.

I’m trying to strike a balance between keeping things engaging and not just doing straight step-by-step tutorials, but I’d love to hear if that’s landing well or not.

I am focusing on the ā€œGetting startedā€ playlist that covers basic features for now, but open to mixing it up with more advanced stuff – let me know if there are subjects you want me to explore!

Have purchased your books and love your content overall, but these videos are overproduced and can’t capture attention-span-deficient modern audiences. I would guess that your retention graph shows a steep decline at the very beginning with almost no viewers remaining by the 2 minute mark. In 2025 you need to slap viewers across the face with value immediately, they don’t have patience for long setups. Your current format is more of a 2015 style. Separate from the above, you’re at a very weird duration for modern audiences. I’d recommend going even longer form (super long form) or sticking to 1-2 minute bitesize clips. Everything is headed towards extremes these days. Good luck!

@randomanon thanks so much for the thoughtful feedback—I appreciate you taking the time to share it. I’m trying to balance clarity, depth, and pacing, so insights like this are super valuable. Glad to hear you’ve enjoyed the books and content overall!
