Responsive is very tricky I find it the most difficult thing in bubble.
My best suggestion is to slowly build a page one element at a time and then see how it shows in responsive by checking the sizes you care about.
Also building a <size specific page has been my solution in many instances where it’s optimized for <800 px and one is optimized for bigger than 800 px. So hide and show one or the other depending on what size display is being used.
So patience and going slow is the only way I’ve found to figure it out - sorry that doesn’t help much - but knowing that you’re in the same boat with everyone else should be comforting
Run mode should reflect the responsive view, there’s no excuse for that… its the first time i run into this problem, something buggy going on.
If you think it’s a bug I would file a bug report with screenshots…
Just a quick checklist item: is your browser zoom at 100%? (command+0 on a Mac)
yes it is
but im using my desktop to design, and its set as a different resolution than standard, because i like to see my screen more bigger, better for my eyes, could this interfere?
I dont want to change if its not necessary, it will change a lot of my settings on other native programs i have on computer
Try logging into your bubble app from another computer just so you can check it off your list? Process of elimination…
Can you share the link so others can see what it looks like on their machine?
Actually now it is working, donno why? didnt change a thing, but not complaining…
I’ve found that running the Bubble editor in a 64bit stable release Chrome browser with zero extensions/plugins running is the optimal environment. This means adblockers too, as they and other extensions have shown to be the source of a lot of my bugs.
As for screen resolution, I’ve had problems on my 4k touch screen laptop no matter what scaling I have the screen set to. It’s even worse when I have an external monitor plugged in running at a different ppi/hz.
@john3 Has some solid advice regarding designing on a smaller canvas. Are you clicking around and experimenting with the collapsible margins and left/center/right align in responsive mode? How about setting groups to be collapsed when hidden? It took a while for me to get the hang of the layout engine, haven’t noticed any particular bugs in the last couple months fortunately.
thanks will check it out
Hey there Cheskiefisch
Of course it’s possible that there’s a bug. However, I think it’s much more likely that there’s something that you’re not understanding about the nature of the responsive engine. (at least that’s my personal experience with this stuff)… Have you resolved your problems yet?
I suggest, if you’re wanting to make Bubble a useful tool, that you take time to play with all the elements and test to see how they all interact together.
Something that I had to play with lots is the nature of blank space itself. It has interesting properties different than element filled space.
If you have a link, I can look at your stuff!
Sincerely,
Ashley
