Hello Bubble.io Community!
I’ve been experiencing several issues with the new Bubble.io native app editor and could use some help or insights if anyone else has encountered these problems.
Animation Issues: I can’t seem to animate elements in the new native app editor. While I can show and hide elements, the option to animate them is missing. This isn’t an issue in the web app version, where animations work fine.
Date Picker Malfunction: The date picker doesn’t work at all in the native app editor. It’s quite essential for my project, and its malfunction is causing significant delays.
Plugin Visibility: Although plugins can be installed, they are not visible in the editor, making them unusable. This is a critical issue as some functionalities rely heavily on these plugins.
Companion App Availability: The companion app Bubble Go, which is supposed to be available for testing and development purposes, is not found in the App Store. This makes real-time testing and debugging quite challenging.
Tab Item Transitions: There are issues with transitions between tab items during preview. The styling of buttons disappears, and a refresh is required to restore them. This disrupts the workflow and testing process.
I understand that the native app editor is a recent launch, and encountering bugs is almost expected at this stage. However, these issues are somewhat hindering my progress. I plan to continue sharing any additional bugs I find as I am just at the beginning of my project. Hopefully, there won’t be too many more!
If anyone has found workarounds or solutions to these problems, I would greatly appreciate your advice!
Yes, thank you for pointing that out. I realized I hadn’t noticed that I needed to uncheck the “web” option and look specifically among the mobile plugins. After checking, I saw that mobile plugins can indeed be installed. However, this doesn’t entirely solve my issue because I was specifically looking for plugins to address the non-functional native date picker. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a mobile plugin available for that purpose. I’ll have to find another workaround for this issue. Thank you for your response!
@nick.carroll this is at least the third person in the forum this week who’s run into this issue / hasn’t realised the distinction between web/mobile plugins. UX improvement here?
@rous.egoist Where are you performing your test at. Most Mobile Native element like date picker cannot be tested on Web preview. Only on BubbleGo and Live Apps
yeah the current plugin marketplace filtering system is the worst. We’ll be updating it eventually, but have some higher priority projects in the meantime (IAP, bug fixes, etc.)
fingers crossed for sorting plugins by relevance and rolling 3 month installs rather than total installs so the marketplace becomes more competitive hahah
I wouldn’t use the web preview for anything but a quick UI check or if you want to use the new inspect tools.
IDK why the app is not listed in the App Store, but you can get links to bubble go here: Mobile Apps | Bubble (scroll down to the preview section).
I think there’s a few threads on the forums with “gotchas” and tips and tricks for mobile development, reading through those may help with identifying/solving some of the quirks.
Thank you for providing the link. I have already visited it, but unfortunately, I am unable to download BubbleGo as the download button is inactive. I have attached a screenshot showing the issue.
I did download TestFlight though, but it requires an invitation to proceed, and I’m unsure how to obtain one. This quest to download the app seems quite complex.
I have test flight - I think it’s required to get the BubbleGO app, but I downloaded it all a while ago so I don’t recall how I got from one to the other. In test flight, I do have both the BubbleGo app listed and my BDK one. Not sure if that helps or not. I recall a lot of clicking around and downloading things to get it all working.
I think in general the whole mobile app process is a learning curve. We built our first mobile app with BDK native and it was a LOT to learn. Submitting the app to the App Store was also a very large learning curve.
BubbleGo can be downloaded to your phone through testflight using this link. The link is also in our documentation. We are still going through the apple app store review process unfortunately
Thank you for your assistance. I followed the instructions from the link you provided a few days ago. Unfortunately, I’m still unable to proceed. Here are the steps I’ve taken:
I downloaded TestFlight on my iPhone.
When I open TestFlight, it asks for an invitation code to proceed, which I don’t have.
I’ve attached a screenshot from my phone showing this step. I’m unsure how to obtain this invitation code. I’ve searched through the mobile editor for any options to send or receive this code but haven’t found anything.
I have read through the documentation and will review it again to ensure I haven’t missed anything. If there are any additional steps or details I need to follow to obtain the invitation code, I would greatly appreciate any further guidance.
Thank you for sharing your experience.
I have downloaded TestFlight, but I’m currently stuck at the step where it asks for an invitation code to proceed.
Thank you again.
Thank you!
No, the link you provided is NOT asking for a code.
The TestFlight app itself is asking for a code because I haven’t been invited to BubbleGo yet. It doesn’t automatically show BubbleGo as an available app.
I think there might be a confusion regarding the TestFlight access for new users like myself.
Could you please try the following to understand what I’m experiencing?
On an iPhone that has never used TestFlight before, or logged out of any developer accounts.
Download the TestFlight app from the App Store.
Open the TestFlight app.
I believe the missing piece for me is the unique TestFlight invitation link specifically for BubbleGo, which would allow TestFlight to add the app without a manual code entry.
Hi
I had the same problem. I googled how to get bubblego and got up the bubble Docs - previewing a mobile app. Close down TestFlight (ie swipe it closed) and then click on the link in the bubble doc, TestFlight then accepts that as the invite.
Thank you.
I am sorry for the delay in my feedback. Yes, I have actually figured it out. I installed TestFlight on my MacBook, clicked on Bubble.go, and was able to proceed.
Then, I went to my iPhone, and through TestFlight, I was able to get Bubble.go.
