Hi everyone,
I want to take a moment to acknowledge the feedback we’ve received about our decision to start charging for mobile before in-app purchases (IAP) are available. We know that for some use cases, IAP is an essential feature, and the current timeline (closed beta in October, general availability TBD based on how the beta goes) is frustrating.
Our focus right now is on ensuring the mobile editor provides a reliable and high-quality foundation. Sometimes that means pacing ourselves to address bugs and requirements before rolling out the next big piece. IAP is still on our roadmap, and we’ll get there.
It’s important to note: you can build and experiment with mobile apps without paying. Costs only come in once you decide to host your app live. For developers whose use cases are blocked by IAP, you won’t need to pay until it’s ready. For others, we believe there’s already meaningful value in launching live mobile apps today, and that’s why we think it’s fair to include mobile as part of our paid offerings.
We’ll continue to listen, to ship, and to be transparent about the trade-offs we make along the way. Thank you for keeping us accountable, and for building with us.
