I think you are never getting off the support chat even after 18 months ![]()
So everything I do in development to test and figure out things (and now try to optimize) is now going to penalize my workload usage and cost even more.
Making one accidental call in development about to cost you $500
Or 10% increase for 18 months. Which would be cheaper for you?
Maybe with a smaller database in development, workloads like searches and database edits will cost less? That’s why Bubble has to really break down the workload concept and demonstrate with relevant examples to convince users.
a change of 3-8x will certain impact their commercial viability… will your customer accept to pay that increase proportionally?
i believe that bubble needs to address these huge changes, because it is too different from the report they gave above. @emmanuel
the main reaction i saw from people was panicking, both here and in other groups i am a part of.
For someone who have invested enough time to learn optimization, the new pricing is a bless!
Unless I’m missing something or miscalculating…
One app we’re working on would go from $129/month to $9,393/month. We used 117m WU last month. I don’t even see with how broad, sweeping optimizations we’ll get anywhere close to that number. 92% of our WU is just to fetching data, which needs to be improved either way.
Totally know Bubble needed to adjust pricing and we were getting a dang good deal, but oof. What a jump.
Guess we have 18 months to figure out the next move.
I will pay more but please don’t penalize me for learning!
this is a great visual. A+
I agree that recursive workflows and list operations can be resource-intensive, especially when managing databases with a lot of records. Approximately 50% of the workload usage in my app stems from these workflows that only modify small portions of data within large lists. Finding a more efficient way to perform bulk operations or iterate through lists without relying heavily on recursive workflows would help address these concerns.
@emmanuel @josh Thanks for the transparency but There is a lot that still has to be explained to help us really understand this new workload Unit. If i change URL parameter will it count? what counts and what does not? If i run JavaScript will it count as a WU unit? , If i have html will it count? What benefit will i see in speed? What constitutes this WU and what is the weight of each item?
These are just a few questions that i have. While the transparency has been great, we really need a lot more information so we can begin planning on optimizing our apps and taking advantage of these benefits.
Also, quite a few of your users are from countries where exchange rates to the USD makes the slightest cost increase a difference between continuing to build. Whats the plan for those?
Finally, i would like to talk about choosing server locations and if it can be included in the lower plans.
Thanks so much for all you guys do.
Think the 10%. But rather have faster uncapped apps
I wonder if integrating AI could help guide us towards more efficient solutions. For instance, if we’re setting up a process that consumes a significant amount of workload, could the AI suggest alternative approaches or recommend a more effective method?
This would mean that the AI has been training on the most optimal ways to use @bubble . The one thing i tried to get from chatGPT was an epic fail.
Hey everyone! We updated our announcement blog post to include a graphic showing the new pricing structure to highlight that users who need more workload than the amount bundled into the new plans can purchase an additional workload tier with discounted overages.
Going to go bankrupt before I can even learn how to launch my new app
.

Curious to know what type of app this is? And how many users do you have?
This is helpful. Has Bubble finalized the “feature list” for these new plans? I have a new app being planned… and it looks like it may be a good Starter… however, if there are any features being dropped from the current Personal plan, I’d prefer to plan that out now
